Kerosene or paraffin oil is a colourless flammable liquid, usually used for fuel. Kerosene is made by fractional distillation of petroleum. It may be used as fuel for lamps, in some kinds of cooking stoves, and in heaters. Kerosene is also used in the fuel for jet engines. The most common use for kerosene in Canada and the US is lighting camp lamps. Kerosene is used as cooking fuel in India.
