Ard Wiki:Requests for adminship/American Eagle

American Eagle

Ended: 12 July, result: American Eagle promoted

Nomination by Razorflame: Hello all! This is Script error: No such module "user". and I am nominating Script error: No such module "user". for adminship. To tell you the truth, I have absolutely no idea where to begin my nomination speech for American Eagle because of the massive amount of help and guidance that this user has given to the Simple English Wikipedia. This user has demonstrated extreme amounts of self-control and patience as is evident in my last RfA when both me and Djsasso went off the deep end in the Comments section. This user attempted to mediate and resolve the conflict and that is a good quality that an administrator needs to have in order to do his or her job to its fullest capacity.

In terms of article building, this user has started and made many great articles for the Simple English Wikipedia, and he has been very helpful towards other users when they post up articles that don't quite meet the Simple English Wikipedia's expectations. He constantly works on articles that don't make the cut here to make them able to stay on this Wikipedia. Another facet of article building that this user has worked on here on the Simple English Wikipedia is getting articles ready and making articles meet the requirements for both good and very good articles. He has helped promote several articles to GA and/or VGA status already and he has done a very good job with this so far.

As always, I strive to only nominate users for adminship if and only if they help with vandalism reverting previous to the nomination. This is no exception. American Eagle has definitely helped the Simple English Wikipedia combat vandalism of all shapes and sizes, from the most dire of situations to the not very serious times and he has shown that he is capable in fighting vandalism. He has reported many a vandal onto the Vandalism in Progress board and he has helped fight vandalism through recent changes patrolling, as well as new changes patrolling.

American Eagle is a very helpful, friendly, and kind user who is very active on this site. He loves giving out barnstars to other editors on this site that deserve them, and he even gives out barnstars to editors that he doesn't even know! Ever since he became a member 3 months ago, his edits to the Simple English Wikipedia have all been very helpful towards having us reach our goal of being the most complete online encyclopedia. Through numerous discussions given both at Wikipedia:Simple talk and WP:AN, he has proven to me and the other users that he completely understands the Simple English Wikipedia's policies and rules and I am sure that he will be a very capable administrator.

All in all, this user has been a great asset to the Simple English Wikipedia, and I can see no negative happenings coming from American Eagle if he were granted the sysop flag. I believe that by giving him the sysop flag, you are giving the whole of the Simple English Wikipedia a great administrator who will be a net positive for this site.

Therefore, I would like to offer him up to the community as a plausible administrator. Razorflame 00:06, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Co-nomination by RyanCross: Hello. I would like to present User:American Eagle to the Simple English Wikipedia community for him to be granted the sysop rights. American Eagle has been one of our best contributers to Simple English Wikipedia I've seen in my short time here.

American Eagle is one of our nicest and most civil editors he has shown to be. Looking through American Eagle's archives, there seems to be no major problems with this user's editing. He is one of our best article writers looking through his many articles he had created, including a few WP:GAs and WP:VGAa which shows he wants to improve the encyclopedia. Not only is he a good article writer, over 60% of his edits are in the mainspace, which are mostly quality edits. American Eagle shows that he cares more about the quality of his edits then the quantity of them.

American Eagle shows an understanding of our policies by how many deleted edits he has. He has almost 500 deleted edits which means he understands our Wikipedia:Deletion policy and our Quick deletion policy since he does quite a lot of QB tagging. Although, I've noticed that some of his deleted edits are deleted templates that he requested for deletion himself, looking at his over 200 undeleted template edits, he shows he would like to make Wikipedia run better. He also does quite a lot of vandalism fighting, not to mention him reporting vandals (although a lot of our recent reports were mine ;)) to WP:VIP which shows he would do well with the block tool.

Well. I think American Eagle would be one of our most worthy candidates for adminship. I believe he will not misuse the tools and that he will do just fine with them. He basically meets the criteria for adminship also. He is sought out by others for his help and he acts in a manner consistent with our top admins. I have every confidence that he can handle the tools. Regards, RyanCross (talk) 02:38, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Surprize Co-Nomination by Da Punk '95: I would like to also nominate American Eagle for the SysOp flag. The reasons I want to nominate him have already been said, but just he is good fighting vandals here (and would benifit with the abillity to block and delete), and has got a few GA/VGA's. --  Da Punk '95  talk  03:13, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Candidate's acceptance: Wow, I just got home from doing my paper route and saw this. I accept Razorflame, thanks -- America †alk 00:29, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

(More) - Hmm, I've never seen a co-nomination before, but I feel very flattered. As I said, I do accept. Regarding my deleted edits and besides them template deletions RyanCross mentioned, I have also had a few subpages deleted before. About Barnstars, I love it when new users come and I like to acknowledge them for their hard work.

Starting out on here (and before, on the English Wikipedia), I had no clue what to do, and was even three times warned for accidental vandalism (hehe). I remember trying to create a userpage over there but didn't know how to do anything. But over the last few months or so, I have learned how to do wiki-text, as well as write well (I had horrid grammar before Wikipedia came along).

Wow, if Andrew from NC had never posted the link to a certain Wikiproject Christianity on the English Wikipedia, I would never started on Simple. For I have now learned so much, and are trusted enough to be nominated for adminship. I believe I have read the policies here, and if I missed one, I think I understand what makes a Wiki, especially ours, work properly. If elected President (err, nominated Sysop), I would never abuse the tools. Again I thank you all for co-nominating me for adminship, I accept. Thanks -- America †alk 03:12, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

  • Does this count as one of Razorflame's RfA? Microchip 19:23, Monday, July 7 2008 Utc
Umm, you mean was this one of his nominations? -- America †alk 20:06, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
How? Yes Razor nominated but it wasn't himself.--   ChristianMan16  20:47, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I nominated American Eagle, but I did NOT nominate myself. Try not to get the two confused.  :) I have no plans of running for an RfA anytime in the next few months, so don't be so impatient to make me have an RfA :) Cheers, Razorflame 22:10, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, it is one of Razorflame's nominations. Anyways, though, I just found it ironic; don't feel I'm pushing you into RfAing. That wasn't my intent. Microchip 09:28, Tuesday, July 8 2008 Utc
